Caspian Engineers Society
The Caspian Engineers Society organized a seminar “Recent research directions in modern control theory and its applications, thermodynamics and dynamical systems theory, distributed target assignment, discontinuous dynamical systems, and aerospace systems engineering”, on Saturday, August 13. Teymur Sadikhov was the presenter of the seminar hosted at the Caspian Plaza’s conference hall.
Vugar Samadli
The Caspian Engineers Society organised a seminar “Career Development” on Saturday, May 21st. Vugar Samadli was the presenter of the seminar hosted at Khazar University.
Vugar Samadli graduated from Middle East Technical University. Later he did his Master degree at University of Florida. Vugar have woked for “BP”, “Azeraluminium” and right now he works for John Crane Inc. as a Regional Manager.
Briefly Vugar Samadli talked about the importance of understanding true meaning of Career. He substituted the career development process to four stages and explained them one by one for better understanding. Vuqar noticed importance of writing unique CV/Resume and behaving confidently during the interview to differ from many other applicants. He fulfilled his seminar by giving examples from his or his friends life, explaining how different conditions affected their career path.

Araz Javadov
The next seminar of Caspian Engineers Society was held in Khazar University, on Monday 7th March. The topic presented by Araz Javadov was called “Drilling – From Exploration to Field Development”. Araz Javadov works for Schlumberger in Drilling & Measurements (D&M) Department – one of the Drilling service providers of Oil E&P companies in the Caspian Sea and worldwide. This is Araz’s second presentation for the CES students and graduates. There were 25 attendees from the different universities such as Qafqaz, Khazar, ASOA, ATU. Based on attention of the students and their meaningful questions the seminar can be considered as very interesting and fit for the purpose.

Oil & Gas Well Cementing Best Practices
Hikmat Isayev is working for Schlumberger one of the main subsurface engineering contractors of BP in Azerbaijan as a Cementing Engineer. He has professional experience in both of these international companies.During seminar Hikmat Isayev covered basic stuff just to give students ideas why we need to cement casing and what will happen if we fail to cement casing. Also topics like types of cementing and how we choose the casing were covered. Usually the budget of cement jobs per well is like 5% the cost of well.

Artificial Lift Methods/ Gas Lift
Rufat Malikov is working as a Gas Lift Engineer in Schlumberger and one of the main subsurface engineering contractors of BP in Azerbaijan. Rufat has professional experience in both of these international companies. He presented a lecture on “Artificial Lift Methods/Gas Lift” hosted by Khazar University. Though it happened on cloudy Saturday morning, more than 60 students from different local universities, such as Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Caucasus University, etc., attended the seminar with the interest. This time students take part in discussion very actively, contributed with lots of interesting questions and comments.

Crude Oil Pipeline Capacity Improvement
Dr. Vusal Shafiyev is working for BP as a process engineer. He is responsible for engineering support for BTC (Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan ), SCP (South Caucasian Pipeline) gas pipeline, and WREP (Western Route Export Pipeline) through Azerbaijan and Georgia.
